There are more than enough reasons to
boycott Walmart. Here are just a few:

1. Employees there get no health benefits.

2. Full time workers there are in a minority -
health insurance costs are less that way.

3. Employees can't even afford to shop there,
that's how low their wages are.

4. The product they sell is inferior - it's
cheaper in every sense of the word.

5. Their goods are produced by using Third
World Country labor.
xxx Close WalMart? What's WalMart?

Seriously, I have not set foot in one for years, with the notable
exception being that the Buffalo Public Schools used WalMart
as their exclusive provider for Class Rings this year. UGH.

Laura did want a class ring, as it was her senior year, but seriously,
I didn't know where the place was. She thought that was awfully
cool, to not know where WalMart even IS. And when we left, she
said, "I feel so soiled!"

And then we sent a letter to the BPS protesting their choice and
urging them to choose more wisely in t he future. Needless to say,
no response...

I decided long ago not to shop at Walmart because of its
inequitable treatment of its employees and their obscene profits.

Rather than getting better, the news has only gotten worse.

xxxxxxWal Mart Wine

Wal-Mart announced that, on January 1, 2007, that it will begin offering customers a new discount item - WALMART's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2- $5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of WalMart brand into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for inexpensive wine," said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at University of Arkansas, Bentonville.

"But the right name is important."

Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal Mart wine brand. The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe it's not Vinegar
2. Grape Expectations
1. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white
meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).
