I knew I could get your attention with those words. First of all, that phrase doesn't apply to me. I did finish reading a book by John Perkins called Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. I recommend it very highly. It's non-fiction but after reading it you might conclude that John Grisham and John LeCarre are lightweights. Still, the book is quite scary, but it does describe what the alliance of the banks, industry and governemnt can accomplish. Unfortunately, it is not for the good of the people but only the elite.
