Some time ago I found an excellent recipe for baked beans with breakfast sausage. Recently I thought
about making it again, only using fresh Polish sausage. I'm sure you could also use the smoked variety,
but this would give quite a different flavor - I just may do that
substitution some day. I also added a bit of
hickory barbeque sauce.
The result was so good, I had to include my modified recipe here for all to share.

barbeque beans with sausage x Serves 8
x
16 oz. pinto beans 1/2 lb. fresh Polish sausage
water 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 bay leaf 1/2 cup barbeque sauce
1 cup ketchup 1/3 cup molasses
1 large onion, chopped
x
In a large Dutch oven, soak the beans overnight. Add the bay leaf, enough
water to cover, bring to a boil, lower the heat and cook for 45 minutes. Add
the remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour. Serve.
