My cookbook has a recipe for croutons, cooked on the stove. You can also bake
them. Since you have to cut the bread into cubes first, a day or two before, place
the bread in the freezer. This will make slicing the bread easier. Both recipes follow.

x
8 slices of bread
3 tbsp olive oil
6 cloves of garlic, minced
x
Cut bread into 1/2-inch cubes and let dry overnight. In iron skillet, combine oil
and garlic and sauté over medium heat for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Add
bread cubes and stir frequently with a wooden spoon until they are browned.

baked croutons
x
8 slices of bread
onion powder
garlic powder
dried oregano
x
Cut bread into 1/2-inch cubes and add to baking pan. Sprinkle with remaining ingredients
and place in 300 degree oven. Bake until golden brown, stirring often to keep from burning.
